This is one of the most common posts we see on social media sites like Facebook. Actually, in reality, you can play youtube in the background while doing other tasks on your android device.
While on desktop, most of the time, we just open the youtube in the browser (Chrome or Firefox or whatever browser you prefer) and play the song or music we want to listen to and minimize the window or just open another tab and complete or task. And the music keeps playing in the minimized tab in the background. That's simple, huh!?
On your android device, you can do that same thing, EXACTLY THE SAME THING, but after installing some addons or switching to the desktop version.
1. For Firefox on Android:
Video background play fix - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-background-play-fix/ (I use this)
2. For Chrome:
Open youtube.com and check if it automatically redirects you to m.youtube.com or opens the desktop version.
a) In case it redirects, check(or select) the 'Desktop Site' from the dropdown side menu of the browser(three horizontal dots). Now just play the video of the song/music you want to listen to and minimize the browser.
b) In case it doesn't redirect, just play the video of the song/music you want to listen to and minimize the browser.
Now you will notice, for both the cases, after you minimize, the music stops. No need to panic. Drag down your notification bar and resume the music from there. You will see options to play/pause, next and previous in the form of notification.
Or, go for Youtube Music for Andriod.
Youtube music is also great for Desktop.
